‍ ‍Hypatia Porter is an Emmy- and Peabody-nominated film editor with over 15 years of experience. Her work has premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Tribeca Festival, BFI London Film Festival, IDFA, DC/DOX and DocNYC among others, and can be seen on HBO Max, Netflix, National Geographic, Hulu and Amazon. She has worked across feature, short and episodic projects that span documentary, narrative, hybrid and immersive storytelling.

Her recent work includes Love + War, directed by Oscar-winning directors Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, for which she received a News & Documentary Emmy nomination for Outstanding Editing; the film was also nominated for Best Documentary and received a Peabody nomination. She served as lead editor on the docuseries Ladies First for Netflix, nominated for a Critics Choice Award for Best Documentary and an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Documentary. Other credits include Wild Wild Space (HBO Max), Tigerland (Sundance), and Of Medicine and Miracles, directed by Oscar-winning director Ross Kauffman.

‍ ‍Hypatia is a Karen Schmeer Diversity Fellow and holds a B.A. in Motion Pictures and Television: Editing from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Originally from rural Northern California, she splits her time between New York City, upstate New York and the Mendocino coast.
